Kilkenny Rugby Club Head Coach Packie Henebry says their Towns Cup game at home to Wicklow on Sunday is not going to be a distraction from their League struggles.
Speaking to KCLR, Packie says a home draw against the Cup holders for Sunday’s game is a major boost.
“They are the current holders of the Towns Cup so we know exactly what to expect from them. It’s going to be every bit as hot and heavy as the League was. It’s not a distraction in that sense. We are going very well in training. Really looking forward to this game. It’s at home and if you can get a home draw in the Cup, it’s a big boost, so again I hope we have a big crowd here on Sunday.”
Meanwhile Carlow Rugby Club PRO John Shirley is hoping to that the strength of their pack will help them in their attempt to upset Dundalk in Sunday’s Towns Cup.
Speaking to KCLR, John says that Dundalk will be formidable opponents.
“We haven’t won one now since 1993 where as Dundalk I think won one in 2011. The word on the grapevine is that Dundalk have a very strong pack and good running halves so I suppose if Carlow have any strength, I think they have a strong enough pack, they have been winning scrums against most teams all season so we will give it a rattle”
Tullow are also in action on Sunday as they host Newbridge.
All Three Games Start At 2.30
