Tullow Rugby Club Head Coach Maurice Logue is very happy with the way they have been accumulating high scores in their matches this season.

Tullow are top of Division 2A of the Leinster League and speaking to KCLR, Maurice says their new signings have strengthened the squad.

“We have been racking up scores. We brought in Cian Auldon who comes with very good pedigree from Auckland. He is linking up and Shane Ronan on the wing and Ryan O’Neill and Paul Stephens who was out injured for a while. We have been very very competitive and very good on our execution of scores.

Table toppers Tullow are at home to Portalaoise next Sunday, and speaking to KCLR, Maurice says they would earn their spot by been promoted.

“In hindsight, the play-off would have been the week before the Ashbourne game.

That was a pretty tough game and it might have been a step too far so look in some way, in hindsight we were probably better off that we missed out on the play-offs and won the Towns Cup and give it a really good rattle this year.

“Looking at it last year, Wicklow were deserving winners and they were ahead of everyone else, so I think there is no harm in us earning our spot and if we were to win the League this year, we can go up by winning it, I think that would be more satisfying than going through a play-off,” he said.
