The future of the NBA season could be called into question amid reports from the Athletic website that players from the LA Lakers and LA Clippers have voted to end the season.

The Milwaukee Bucks led the most powerful protest against issues of race and police brutality in America to date by deciding to sit out game 5 of their NBA Playoff with Orlando Magic.

The strike by the Wisconsin based team followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man who was paralyzed after being shot seven times in the back on Sunday. The shooting has sparked a wave of protests in recent days and the Bucks players said in a statement they were unable to focus on basketball due to the events in Kenosha.

The NBA postponed all three playoff games last night and it triggered similar moves across other sports. Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer and the Women’s NBA also called off games, while two-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka joined the protests by pulling out of a tournament after reaching the semi-finals.
