It will be hard to meet two Carlow men more passionate about soccer than Joe Sunderland and Pa Dowling, so it’s no surprise that the duo have been put in charge of Carlow’s womens Oscar Traynor team for the season ahead.

With Carlow and Kilkenny contesting the Angela Hearst Cup final last year, the format of the competition has changed for the season ahead moving from a Leinster-only tournament to an All-Ireland tournament, broken into five regions. As such, Carlow find themselves in the South East region alongside Kilkenny, Wexford and Waterford.

It couldn’t be simpler to break down according to Pa Dowling who says “as long as the players commit to what we’re going to do, we’ll be ok”.

We caught up with Joe (new head coach) and Pa (new manager) at the recent launch of the Carlow Soccer League season in the Seven Oaks to find out what they’re planning for the run of the season ahead. Watch the video above for all the details and keep an eye on the Fanzone right across the season for updates, interviews, profiles and reports from the league.
