The Kilkenny Minors were also in action yesterday, but unlike the seniors, a strong showing in the second half couldn’t help them defeat current Champions Galway.
Galway, playing their first competitive game this year held firm after relinquishing a 12-point lead before recovering to record a 3-16 to 2-16 win. Goals for the Cats came from second half substitute Ian Byrne from Glenmore.
Manager Richie Mulrooney takes positives from the performance despite the defeat as his team look ahead to semi final clash with Limerick
“Even though it was a loss, you have to understand I’m absolutely delighted”, said Mulrooney in speaking to KCLR post-match.
“Because number one the comeback, the character shown , the hurling produced in the second half”.
“Number two, the fact that this group who had no expectations on them are in an All-Ireland semi-final against Limerick in Croke Park on Saturday 27th.”
