Mixed weekend for IT Carlow and Marble City Hawks in Basketball Leagues

IT Carlow’s men’s and women’s teams were both in league action this weekend with a win and loss registered for the college while Marble City Hawks were defeated.

On Saturday, the IT Carlow ladies took on the Leixlip Amenities Liffey Celtics in the MissQuote.ie Super League, however, they lost to the Kildare side 74-62.

Sorcha Tiernan was the top scorer for the winners with 18 points, followed by Kate O’Flaherty (13) and Karen Mealy (8). Alyssa Velles was the game’s top scorer on 25, backed up by Lauren LaPlant (19) and Holly Dunne (8).

Also on Saturday, the Marble City Hawks were in action in the MissQuote.ie Division 1, they lost out to NUIG Mystics 78 – 29.

Then on Sunday, IT Carlow beat their neighbours in the InsureMyVan.ie Division , the Portlaoise Panthers 63-50 and moved to a 7-1 record.

Nate Shafer (21), Ben Kelly Flynn (15) and Armands Vaikuls (8) were their leading scorers, while for Portlaoise Panthers they had Davin McEvoy (13), Dylan Dunne (10), and Conor Byrne (9) top their standings.
