Old rivals Mount Leinster Rangers and St. Mullins face off in a top-of-the-table encounter, with both sides coming into the game on the back of two victories.
Defending county champions St. Mullins convincingly dispatched of Ballinkillen and Naomh Brid, as they look to add a 29th Carlow title to their trophy room. Mount Leinster Rangers were run close in by Naomh Eoin in the opening game, however, hit four goals passed Bagenalstown Gaels somewhat avenging last year’s semi-final defeat.
Manager Paul O’Brien, who is also the club’s football boss, spoke to Scoreline.ie and was very much aware that this may not be the last meeting between the two teams in the Championship;
“We are winning the first two so we’re motoring along nicely towards that the semi-final stage. I suppose one more win out for the last three and we’ll be like a semi-final thing again.”
“There’s a big history there between St. Mullins and Rangers. There’s a good healthy level of respect and rivalry there. It might be the first meeting of two meetings, you wouldn’t know for the rest of the year.”
“All these games are just important to keep building and to be better out the next day again. They (St. Mullins) have been impressive their first two days now anyway.”
We will live from 8 pm at Netwatch Cullen Park on our Carlow frequency as Dan Morrissey & Co brings all the action from Mount Leinster Rangers and defending champs St. Mullins. We also will have a Man of the Match competition with thanks to Detail Menswear.
