Japan’s Naomi Osaka 20 game undefeated run continues as she has beaten Serena Williams 6-3, 6-4 to reach the Australian Open ladies singles final in Melbourne.

The match up went for just over an hour with with Osaka coming back from initially being down 2-0. Margaret Court’s record is still intact as 39 year old Williams will now have to wait to win a record equaling 24th Grand Slam title after losing straight sets.

2019 Champion Osaka has never lost a Slam final and will now play either Jennifer Brady who defeated Karolina Muchova. The world number 3 NAOMI OSAKA world number 22 JENNIFER BRADY 2-1 in competition. The most recent game was the 2020 US Open,where Osaka came out on top, 7-6 (7-1) 3-6 6-3.

An emotional Serena Williams left her press conference in tears after facing questions about her future following defeat in the Australian Open semi-final. Moments after being asked if she’d said goodbye to the tournament for good, Williams became overwhelmed when questioned about unforced errors replying “I don’t know. I’m done”.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is on course to advance to the final.

The world number won the first set against Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev in the first of the men’s semi finals.

Djokovic leads 5-3 in the second set.
