While eyes of the world were on Sky’s ‘Transfer Deadline Day’ coverage, Kilkenny United WFC were busy making new signings of their own.
Just after 8.30pm on Tuesday evening, the club announced they were in talks to sign Lakewood AFC’s Michelle O’Regan, confirming that was the case around 9.10pm. Michelle will line out for Kilkenny for the 2017 season.
That signing was quickly followed by the announcement of Leanne Payne’s arrival to the squad from Shelbourne FC ladies.
While Liverpool were announcing the departure of Mamadou Sakho to Crystal Palace on loan for the remainder of the current season, Kilkenny were announcing their third signing with Becky Conroy of Benfica Waterford confirmed for the club for 2017.

Having had pretty much the youngest squad in the league last term, Kilkenny are mixing it up with youth and experience as the club continues to develop.
Kilkenny United were announced as an expansion team for the 2015/16 Women’s National League. Playing their home games at The Watershed on the outskirts of the city, this will be the club’s third season in the league.
The player transfers arrive on the back of the departure of manager Noel Kealy who leaves for UCD Waves after two seasons with Kilkenny. As such, the club are now accepting applications for the Women’s Head Coaching/Manager position. UEFA A/B licence coaches only may apply.
