No “Plan B” for Carlow’s Footballers means they struggle when chasing games says Willie Quinlan

Former Carlow Senior Footballer Willie Quinlan says that having no plan B is greatly disappointing.

Carlow lost to Longford at home in Round 3 of the National League yesterday, and speaking to KCLR at the end of the game, Willie says Carlow struggle when they are chasing games.

He said “The disappointing thing is when we go down a couple of points, we have a game plan, a set game plan and it doesn’t seem to work because we defend and defend, when we go down we stick with the same game plan”.

“Paul Broderick being injured and only coming on, he has been their big scoring “go to” man in the last couple of years, he wasn’t there, he came on in the second half, it’s hard to know how fit he was, it’s disappointing that we don’t have a B plan”.

Willie said “We have a very very good structure at the backline, teams find it hard to break it down, but when we don’t go ahead and teams get ahead of us, we really struggle to beat them. Laois done the same to us three times last year, got three or four points ahead and played a similar type of game and we just weren’t able to change it”.
