Last year’s beaten finalists Kilkenny alongside Carlow and Tullow will find out who they’ll be facing the 91st Provincial Towns Cup later this month.

The draw of junior rugby’s top cup competition will be made ahead of the Leinster v Toulon game on Saturday 19 December itself taking place in the Ballsbridge Hotel from 2.30pm.

Last year’s first round fixtures threw up a local derby as Kilkenny and Carlow went head to head in a thrilling game at Foulkstown, the hosts running out 40-33 winners and ultimately progressing through to the final before losing 9-8 to Enniscorthy, their second final loss in two years.

Tullow hosted Cill Dara in last year’s first round and notched up a further win over Longford before going out in the quarter final to eventual winners Enniscorthy.

Meanwhile, Leinster League rugby continues this weekend with Kilkenny, Tullow and Carlow all in action. We’ll have our usual weekend preview out on Friday.
