The shortlist for the 2022 PwC Camogie All-Star awards has been released with Kilkenny picking up the lion’s share of nominations with 11 of 36.

The 2022 season proved fruitful for Brian Dowling’s side who would go unbeaten across the league, Leinster and Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior camogie championship. Six counties are represented by the 36 players named to this year’s list with Kilkenny (11), Cork (10), Waterford (7), Galway (5), Dublin (2) and Limerick (1) all included.

Following a number of standout performances, Piltown’s Aoife Norris is in the running for the goalkeeper position with Waterford’s Brianna O’Regan and Cork’s Amy Lee providing the opposition.

There are 14 defenders on the list too, Kilkenny holding on to top spot with five nominees included corner-backs Michelle Teehan and Gowran’s Tiffi Fitzgerald, Grace Walsh (Tullaroan), Laura Murphy (O’Loughlin Gaels) and Claire Phelan (Lisdowney).

A five-person midfield sees Katie Power in the running alongside Cork duo Ashling Thompson and Hannah Looney.

Denise Gaule and Julianne Malone get the nod at half-forward with player of the match in the All-Ireland final Katie Nolan named as a contender for corner forward while Tullaroan’s Miriam Walsh is included in the full forward contenders.

Brian Dowling finds himself in the running for manager of the year once more with the Antrim pairing of Brian Kearny and Mark McFadden (joint) and Galway’s Cathal Murray also on the list.
