A late surge from Wexford seen them edge Kilkenny by two points in a roller coaster of a game played in testing conditions in the National League yesterday.

Wexford started strongly and lead by a big margin only for Kilkenny to pull it back.

1-16 to 1-14 was the final score.

The hosts made a late push and Kilkenny manager Brian Cody says that’s what got them in the end.

He said “Yeah they finished stronger than us, that’s for sure and they took a few votal scores in the end there, that’s the game, we fought hard to get back into it and then they came back strongly at us, but that’s the way it went”

Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald says it was a great fight back from his side but says Kilkenny will be different come championship time.

“It was for sure, the respect I have for them (Kilkenny) is massive, they’re going to fight all the time, imagine when they get the boys back (Ballyhale, Tullaroan) it’ll be a tough championship ahead, that’s all ill say to you”.

“We know what’s coming down in Nowlan Park when we meet them but we’re really looking forward to that battle now, thats being honest, that’s in my head already is that battle we are going to have during the summer”.
