Carlow Senior Football Manager Turlough O’Brien says their progression through the Leinster Championship means a lot to the Carlow natives who are located abroad.

Speaking to KCLR after Sunday’s victory against Kildare, Turlough says they great support from the other side of the Irish sea.

“We know what it means to these people from a distance. The Carlow Association of London, they are always keeping in touch with us and offering their support and getting behind the lads, to be away from Carlow, the draw for home is always there and to see Carlow now .

“The performances that they are giving and the joy that brings to Carlow, it’s just it’s a link with home that’s so important and we are delighted for those people abroad that they are seeing Carlow final making a statement for themselves,” he said.

Meanwhile Carlow Senior Football Selector Tommy Wogan says they are going to try hang onto Steven Poacher for as long as they can and has praised Turlough.

“What a great manager, what a great guy. To take the initiative and to do what he had done, to bring Stevie on board, a lot of managers wouldn’t have done what he had done and I tink huge credit goes to Turlough for what he has done with this Carlow Team.

“Stevie is a top top coach, and I am sure when this is done and dusted, there is going to be a lot of counties going to be looking for Stepven Poacher and we are going to hold on for him as long as we can,” he said.
