The Carlow Coyotes women got a losing bonus point from their game against Old Belvedere at Oakpark on Sunday but they could easily have won.

Against the wind in the first half Carlow often pressed the Belvedere line but never got across it. Instead they leaked three tries one of which was converted.

With the wind in the second half Carlow faced a 17 -0 deficit. They got in for two tries by the excellent Meg Parkinson. Maureen Young narrowly missed the conversions. Late in the game Carlow dominated territory with Catriona Cassidy doing great lineout work, but time ran out without Carlow adding to their score.

Coyotes team:

M Young, R Conville, R Mullins, D Deering, T Kruger, L Doyle M Parkinson, E Byrne, V Timmons, L O Malley, R Smyth, N Lyons, C Cassidy, J Ardill.S Fitzhenry,

Subs M Matthews, P Byrne, F Cantwell, A O Neill.
