Scoreline Morning Report – Windgap, SETU, Premier League, local snooker & darts

As you know we have four live games on KCLR this weekend.

One of those is the junior county final between Blacks and Whites and Windgap.

Windgap has not won a junior final since 1986 and have not been in the final since 2001, so it will be a special occasion for them, speaking to Scoreline manager Pat Robinson seemed to have confidence in his system and squad since the start of the season;

“We knew what we had all year, it was just a matter of sorting out our way of playing and lads buying into that.”

“It is just having our way of playing, sticking to it, lads believing in it and not straying from it.”

SETU

It was a busy day for SETU Carlow yesterday.

Their division 1 footballers feel to TU Dublin on a scoreline of 1-08 to 3-16.

While in the Fresher Hurling League Division 2, the University of Limerick got 28 points to secure the victory.

In Camogie Division 2 League Rd 1 the university got the better of Trinity College

While in soccer SETU Carlow collected a win in their first game of the new Premier Division season by beating TUS Midlands 3-1.

There were also double victories for the rugby firsts and seconds over UL and DKIT.

SETU is out for more GAA action today as they travel to Waterford to face WIT in Division 1 hurling action from seven.

Whereas footballers take on DCU at the same time.

Manchester United beat Tottenham in the Premier League last night – but all eyes were on Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese was an unused substitute in their 2-nil win at Old Trafford and headed for the tunnel before full-time.

Manager Erik ten Hag refused to be drawn on the situation in his post-match press conference.

“He was there, I have seen him, but I didn’t speak with him.”

“I don’t pay attention to that, I will deal with that tomorrow. I want to keep the focus on the team.”

Elsewhere, Liverpool beat West Ham by a goal to nil thanks to a Darwin Nunez effort.

Chelsea were held to a goalless draw away to Brentford.

Gavin Bazunu kept his first clean sheet of the season as Southampton won 1-nil at Bournemouth.

And it’s now six games unbeaten for Newcastle, who beat Everton by a goal to nil at St. James’s Park.

There are two more games in the English top flight tonight.

Aston Villa have won just once in their last eight games ahead of their trip to Fulham.

And Leicester can move off the bottom of the table with just a point from their meeting with Leeds.

Snooker

Ken Doherty is doing the rounds lately.

He was in Carlow last Wednesday night and he is set to hit Kilkenny today.

Doherty will be traveling to Tullaroan snooker and Billards club when the former world champions will take on Kilkenny’s own professional Davy Morris.

Darts

Carlow’s Steve Lennon is back in action today as some players Championship Events in Barnsley

You can follow him along on Darts Connect. After a bit of a layoff he is currently 71st on the leaderboard.

Golf

GOLF

Leona Maguire and Stephanie Meadow are both in action at the LPGA Tour’s BMW Ladies Championship in Korea.

Maguire has finished on level par, while Meadow is two over through 14.

Korean amateur Minsol Kim is the leader on eight-under-par.

Rory McIlroy can return to world number one this week if he retains his title at the C-J Cup.

The County Down golfer tees off at 3.20 Irish time, in a group that also contains Rickie Fowler and Tom Kim.

Around 40-minutes beforehand, Shane Lowry goes out alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Jason Day.

Seamus Power goes out just after 5 pm with Sebastian Munoz and K-H Lee.

Niall Kearney, Cormac Sharvin, and Jonathan Caldwell are all in action at the Mallorca Open, which gets underway this morning.
