Carlow sprinter Molly Scott has been officially named to the Irish team bound for the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, next weekend.

The St. Laurence O’Toole’s standout has been in scintillating form for the indoor season, first equalling, then breaking the Irish 60m record in January before breaking it again at the senior championships last month, setting a time of 7.19 seconds.

Fellow Carlovian Marcus Lawler, who joined Clonliffe Harriers last year, has been named as a non-travelling reserve for the Men’s 400m relay.

Fresh from a new 400m PB of 51.66 at the World Indoor Tour in Madrid last week, Phil Healy will also travel, alongside Finn Valley AC’s Mark English who will feature in both the 800m and Men’s 4x400m.

UCD’s Israel Olatund who set a 60m PB of 6.62 – just 0.01 away from the national senior record – at the senior indoor championships last month is also included.

Another fantastic season’s been had by UCD’s Sarah Healy who is now second only to Ciara Mageean in the record books, the 21-year-old breaking her own Under 23 record with a time of 4:06.95 in February.
