Republic of Ireland international Sean Maguire could miss the first two months of Preston’s new league campaign.
The former Cork City star and Kilkenny native hobbled out of the Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Oldham Athletic.
Subsequent scans have revealed a hamstring injury which could keep Maguire sidelined for 8 weeks.
Preston play Queens Park Rangers in their Championship opener at Deepdale on Saturday.
“Sean was taken off as a precaution, we didn’t think much of it”, said Preston boss Alex Neil in talking to the club’s official website.
“Because of his history, we got him scanned and it’s come back a lot worse than what we thought. He will be missing for the best part of a couple of months.”
📺 @Seani_Maguire_ continued his fine goalscoring form on Saturday, making it five goals in just 75 minutes of football so far this pre-season. 🔥
