Former Kilkenny hurler Jackie Tyrell believes that the senior inter county season should go ahead as planned.

Speaking to KCLR’s Edward Hayden, the nine time All Ireland winner and James Stephens club man said that it has the potential to provide a much needed morale boost for GAA fans around the country:

“I would be of the opinion that we should (let it go ahead), once we marry the balance of the safe protocols in place because, I’m not going to say that we need it as a nation and as a GAA community but by god it would give us a big boost and help us most definitely with our moral” he said.

“When the first lockdown came, we had nice summer evenings, we could out for a walk, that isn’t the case, now it’s darker evenings, poorer weather, so definitely it would give everyone, and I’m thinking of the older community who love the gaa, giving them a big boost along with the rest of us”.
