We are set for a massive showdown next Sunday in the final round of the Kilkenny Senior hurling league

All but one game, throw-in at 3.30 around the county. In Group B, Undefeated Bennettsbridge takes on winless Graigue Ballycallan, O`Loughlin Gaels play Glenmore, and a match-up so big they moved to it to the day before. Yes, the city derby of Dicksboro v James Stephens will not take play on Saturday at UPMC Nowlan Park, with full coverage live on KCLR.

In group A, Clara goes up against Lisdowney, Erin’s Own goes head to head to Mullinavat while second-placed Tullaroan challenge table toppers Shamrocks.

A lot gets mentioned about Shamrocks and the league, a perceived notion they do not take it that seriously. However, when we spoke with Shamrocks manager Pat Hoban he said the position they are in was always a top priority;

“Obviously, you set out to top the group or come in the top two. That was absolutely our goal this year. The other side of the fence is very challenging with the teams in that. We wanted to qualify and have a tough game against Tullaroan next weekend. They will be fighting to push on they had a good win `(against Lisdowney) we watched them, and they were really really good. So we are delighted to be where we are.”

Erin’s Own pinned Shamrocks to their collar in UMPC Nowlan Park. With just five minutes to go, Erin’s Own were three points up. Eoin Cody, Ronan Corcoran a,nd Darragh Corcoran brought the sides level once more as the game entered its closing stages. With the game in the melting pot, it was Eoin Cody who stood up when it mattered most to get two late points and seal the well-earned victory for Pat Hoban’s team. Despite the win, Hoban was full of praise for his opponents when speaking to Scoreline;

“Castlecomer really came at us. They played some fantastic hurling. They had a plan, they had a sweeper, and they were really good with their puck-outs. They caught us, we just had to react. In fairness to the guys they dug it out, but for a long time, it looked like ‘comer might get there. “
