St. Kierans College Senior Hurling Manager Tom Hogan says they were delighted to have got over the line as they were hanging on at the end of Saturday’s All-Ireland Senior Colleges Final victory over Presentation Athenry.

Speaking to KCLR, Tom says a positional switch at an important stage of the match proved decisive.

He said “We made it hard on ourselves, but Athenry are a very good team and we are delighted to come out on top. I mean we went behind, they got a great goal there, and our lads showed great courage and they came back and got a goal to go ahead and we were just literally hanging on by their fingertips at the end and we are delighted to get over the line”.

“David (Blanchfield) was getting tired there and we said Ciaran might like a bit of freedom out there as well, and it worked so when it works it’s great. Really, I suppose it was great character, everyone fought hard at the very end and that goal gave us a bit of cushion I suppose and gave lads a bit of confidence, but sure look, we held on and that’s the main thing”.
