Kilkenny Senior Camogie manager Ann Downey says the All-Star nominees are just an added bonus in which all 15 of the Kilkenny starting Team have been nominated.
Speaking to KCLR after the All-Star nominees were released on Tuesday, Ann says that they achieved the most important target of all.
“Well it’s nice to be recognized for the effort that they have put in for the year and the fact we have won the All-Ireland, it is an added bonus, but to be quite honest, I’d say the girls are just happy with their All-Ireland medal at this stage and anything after that is a bonus. There’s always going to be awards night, there is always going to be someone who is disappointed about it, but that’s just an added extra but happy that we have got the All-Ireland”
Downey also says it’s disappointing that All-Ireland Intermediate winning manager Mike Wall was not nominated for the manager of the year award at the Camogie All-Stars.
Speaking to KCLR on last nights The Way It Is, Ann says the Camogie Association work in strange ways at times.
“Sure it probably is (strange), but I suppose I would be shot for saying anything I would say about the Camogie Association. They work in strange ways at times, and disappointing that Mike is not nominated, but like myself, I am must happy we won this All-Ireland and anything after that is a bonus”.
