It promises to be a special weekend on KCLR with the final round of the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League taking place on Saturday before the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Kilkenny Intermediate Hurling League group stages draw to a close on Sunday afternoon.
There are six senior games down for decision on Saturday.
While Brendan Hennessy and former Blacks and Whites county title winning manager Eddie Scally will be commentating on our anchor game between Ballyhale Shamrocks and James Stephens in Callan, we’ll have reporters across the other five encounters as well as keeping you updated on the ever-changing tables.
New Kildare manager Brian Dowling will be at the clash of O’Loughlin Gaels and Danesfort, while Kilkenny U20 manager Mark Dowling will keep us up to date on all the action between Dicksboro and Tullaroan and Kilkenny underage selector Eddie Doyle will be providing reports on Mullinavat and Clara’s do-or-die affair with the loser of that tie facing into a relegation semi-final.
Raymond Byrne will be based in Inistioge for the meeting of Bennettsbridge and Glenmore and two-time All-Ireland winner Adrian Ronan will be reporting from Erin’s Own and Graigue Ballycallan in Freshford.
Afterwards, we’ll head back to the studio where we’ll confirm the final results and tables as well as letting you know who will be facing off in the first round of the championship and the league and shield deciders.
It’s a similar set-up on Sunday from 2pm with Martin Quilty and Brian Dowling on commentary duty in Castlecomer as Lisdowney and St Martin’s attempt to make the league final as well as having reporters at the remaining five games.
The other key matches include Mooncoin’s clash with Conahy Shamrocks and Young Irelands’ meeting with Fenians as a relegation semi-final looms over some big clubs.
We’ll also be providing reports and updates from all of the JJ Kavanagh and Sons Kilkenny Junior Hurling League fixtures and the Junior A, Junior B and Junior C County finals on Saturday in UPMC Nowlan Park.
Before that, you can hear from the likes of Shamrocks’ Adrian Mullen, Clara’s Liam Ryan, Graigue Ballycallan captain Tommy Ronan and more on Scoreline on Friday evening from 6pm.
As always across the weekend, you can get instant post-match interviews from players and managers inside the camps and reaction from our expert contributors.
