Who doesn’t love a good GAA Documentary!

Were at that stage where GAA activity has dried up and how do we fill the gap you ask?

Well look no further than the power of Youtube where you will find some really great Gaelic Games Features.

Here are 10 of the best in no particular order!

Jimmy’s Winnin Matches

This is the first one that springs to mind!

A Fantastic story of how one man instilled a belief and hunger in a group of largely unsuccessful Donegal Footballers and led them to All Ireland Senior Football Glory in 2012.

This is a real insight into how Jim McGuinness brought Donegal football out of the doldrums after initially being refused the Senior Job on two previous occasions.

A Year Til Sunday

This tells the story of the Galway Senior Footballers march to All Ireland Senior Football Glory in 1998.

This is a real throwback to the old school style of play and preparation.

It goes inside the dressing room and really goes to great lengths to show how an All Ireland was won back then.

The Story Of DJ Carey

Here’s one that’s obviously closer to home.

The ‘Dodger’ is an absolute Legend and this is his story which really explores every aspect of his career.

Final Words: Hurling 2003

2003 saw the reemergence of Cork Hurling.

It also was the year in Which Kilkenny defeated them in the All Ireland Final.

This is a great season review and it set the tone for the rivalry that was to follow over the next three seasons.

Crossmaglen Field Of Dreams

This year the BBC aired a documentary highlighting the life and times of Crossmaglen in Armagh.

It encapsulates the troubles endured up North at the time and how Football became a way of life for people up there.

It also follows the Crossmaglen team for the season on their quest for glory.

The Trilogy – Kilkenny V Tipperary

This is a great story of the three All Ireland’s Kilkenny and Tipperary contested in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

It renewed a great rivalry from yesteryear and these games led the way for some great All Ireland Finals right up until the present date.

Every Heart Beat’s True – Jim Stynes Story

This is a very emotional story!

Jim Stynes was an absolutely amazing character both on and off the field.

He grew up as a fantastic Footballing prospect before being spotted by Australian scouts and he soon made a name for himself with Melbourne as an AFL Footballer.

Jim became ill with Cancer at the turn of the decade and eventually lost his battle for life.

This is simply one of the best documentaries I have ever seen

The Toughest Trade – 2015 Version

This was a novel idea and made for very good viewing!

Kilkenny’s Jackie Tyrrell tried his hand at Baseball while Aaron Kernan went over to Sunderland.

It was great TV and another edition aired this year!

Marooned

The Famous Paidi O’Se speech originated from this documentary!

The Kerry great took over Westmeath in 2004 and guided them to a Leinster Championship when nobody gave them a prayer.

This is Paidi at his brilliant best and this story gives hope to every other underdog out there!

Galvinised

This is definitely one of the more eccentric GAA Documentaries that have been produced!

Paul Galvin is his own man and he doesn’t really give a hoot about what people think of him.

This is a really interesting look at his life and how different he is on and off the field.
