The countdown is on to Sunday 18 August and Kilkenny’s All-Ireland final appearance with both the minor and senior hurling sides.
Richie Mulrooney’s minor hurlers will face a determined Galway side in the curtain-raiser at 1pm in Croke Park.
Then at 3.30pm it’s the turn of Brian Cody’s charges as they face familiar foes Tipperary in the senior showdown.
Ahead of the hurling there’s a raft of activities planned to drum up support for the players and support staff.
Golf at Gowran Park
Up first is the Kilkenny GAA 3 man golf event at Gowran Park on Tuesday 6 August. Teams of three are €150 to register with prizes of Golf in City West, a four-ball at Mount Juliet, overnight hotel breaks and more. Hot food will be served on the 10th tee and times can be reserved by texting 085-1389397.
Corporate Night at Cillin Hill
One of the big fundraisers, particularly on the business side of things, is the Kilkenny GAA corporate night. Tables of 10 are booked at €900 with Aidan O’Brien this year’s guest speaker.
The night also features interviews with Kilkenny minor manager Richie Mulrooney and senior manager Brian Cody.
Individual booking are also taken for the night with tickets from Barry Hickey (087-6975212), Jim Freeman (087-2551507) or John Mackey (087-6509203).
The Drive For Liam Radio Quiz
One of the highlights – for us, though we may be slightly biased here – is the Drive For Liam Radio Quiz. With venues in virtually every parish in Kilkenny, we run the regions biggest table quiz, live on air.
Tables of four in participating venues cost just €20 and we’ll have a full list in the coming weeks. If you’re a new venue and looking to host, you should contact one of the numbers above to get involved.
All-Ireland Banquet
Win or lose, the All-Ireland banquet for Kilkenny will be held in City West Hotel in Dublin. Booking is already open at €60 by contacting Jim Freeman (087-2551507) or John Mackey (087-6509203).
