Thomastown United manager Stephen Walsh says it was “ridiculous” the way they had to play three important fixtures in the space of a week to close out the current season.
Walsh was lamenting the fixtures pileup that saw them lose out to Evergreen in both the Premier Division race and the KCLR McCalmont Cup Final earlier this month.
Speaking to KCLR on Sunday Scoreline, the Thomastown boss says the situation is something that urgently needs to be addressed by the Kilkenny & District League.
“I don’t know of any other sport where a team would be asked to play three games of that calibre in eight days”, says Walsh.
“It was ridiculous and the League have to have a good look at things. I mean, we had seven games in the League played by Christmas, by the end of December, and it took us five months to play four games and we still played a game in June as well. It’s (the competition) going on too long, and it’s crazy what’s going on.”
