Port Dara 5 – 54 Tullow

The rain held off in windy Lea Road, Portarlington for Tullow Women’s last away game of the 2021/22 season.

Due to injuries and the availability of Port Dara players, they requested a 10 aside game, so for the first time ever, the Tullow bench had more in it than players on the field.

Tullow powerhouse and woman of the match Alex O’Brien put in immense tackles and scored a hat trick and two conversions to merit the well-deserved award.

Port Dara, at times, struggled to get go-forward ball along with Tullow’s penalty count it wasn’t as fast a game as we expected.

The Tullow Women took their chances when they were presented and scored 10 tries, many after collecting the ball in their own half.

The scoreboard saw a hat trick from Alex O’Brien and Ciara O’Dwyer with a brace from danger woman Chloe Farrell.

Special shout out to Niamh Oliver on her first club try.

The Port Dara women didn’t give up and got on the scoreboard in the second half.

Meg Hickey also made her debut for Tullow RFC during the game.

Tullow try scorers: Lauryn Faulkner (1), Ciara O’Dwyer (3), Alex O’Brien (3, 2 con), Chloe Farrell (2), Niamh Oliver (1)
