Two international friendlies have been arranged for Stephen Kenny’s Ireland

Ireland will face Andorra on Thursday, June 3 before another international friendly against Hungary on Tuesday, June 8.

Ireland play Andorra at the Estadi Nacional, with kick-off at 6pm, on Thursday, June 3rd. Ireland have met an Andorra four times in total, winning all four matches. The last time these sides met was in UEFA European Championship Group B, where Giovanni Trappatoni’s side secured the full six points on route to Poland.

Andorra are regular whipping boys in world football, only winning six times total since inception in 1996. Their most recent win came at the expense of Moldova in 2019. Their most recent game however came against Ireland’s second friendly opponents, Hungary. The world cup qualifier ended 4-1 to the Hungarians.

The actual location details for the Hungary fixture is yet to be confirmed however it will be played on June 8th. Hungary are so far undefeated on their route to Qatar, sitting just two points behind England after three games.

Ireland first went up against Hungary in 1934, and played the 1936 World Cup finalists a total of five times that decade, losing twice and drawing thee times. Over nine years will have passed since these two sides last met, where it ended in a 0-0 draw in the Aviva

Both fixtures will form part of a summer training camp for the Ireland squad as they prepare for the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Azerbaijan in September.
