Carlow County Board Chairman Sean Campion is fearful that the new look two tier Football Championship is going to have negative consequences for the County.

Speaking to KCLR after the new look Championship was passed at a Special Congress last Saturday, Sean says that playing against opposition at a lower level won’t just have an impact on the playing field.

He said “I think it will have an impact on sponsorship. How many companies are going to be out there wanting to sponsor a county or a team in a two tier competition, and you can’t just get your day in the sun and play the big teams”.

He added “It’s every young fellows dream to get to play the Dublin’s and the Donegal’s and the Tyrone’s and the Galway’s and the Mayo’s or whatever, that’s not going to happen now unless you are in the top half of tier two and that you can play in Sam Maguire”.
