Wicklow Senior Football Manager Davy Burke says it could be a baptism of fire for plenty of their newcomers as they come up against a team that are roaring hot favorites to go straight back up to Division 3.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of tonight’s(Saturday) Division 4 National League opener against Carlow, Davy says that all they can is give it their best shot.

He said “A team like Carlow, surely they would be roaring favorites to go back up and the fact that we have them in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday night in the first game”.

“It’s a tough assignment for us, their could 17 or 18 new lads, we have had a a turnover of 17 or 18 new lads in our panel so a lot of them would be young guys so Netwatch Cullen Park, it’s not the ideal start for them boys but they will best foot forward anyhow I am sure”.
