Former first jockey to Aidan O’Brien says Wings of Eagles is the one to beat as he goes in search of an Epsom-Curragh Derby double.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of Saturday’s feature event in the Curragh, Christy Roche says that Wings of Eagles Epsom Derby victory was merited despite odds of 40/1….
“Of course Aidan O’Brien’s horse, the horse that won at Epsom he looks the one again”
“He was the best horse in Epsom, so I don’t see much reason bar the change of ground”
“Well I think it will be a strongly run race and I think stamina comes into it, and I think the horse that showed all the stamina in Epsom was the winner so he was the one that was finishing going to the line and the Curragh is a tougher track so it is difficult to see how the others can beat him. He knows nothing about the odds”
