It has been a magical time in charge for Brian Dowling since he took over the managerial reigns from Anne Downey as Kilkenny Camogie manager.
Two All Ireland titles in just three years is a feather in the cap for everybody involved, and seeing Brian’s antics come to the final whistle in his most recent victory can see it means the world to him. He has a rapport that is quite strong with not just the players or the media, but the whole county.
The question now on everyone’s lips is what is next for Brian? Will he continue in his stead?

Speaking to KCLR Live Brian Dowling says he does not know what the future holds in regard to his position;
“I don’t know. Every year I stay on for the year, sit down with the county board and make a decision.”
“Last year we lost against Cork (in the semi-final) and I started to question myself. Can I take these girls any further? I went to the All-Ireland final last year, and I found it very tough that we were not there. I just felt there was more in the group.”

“So we will have a think about it over the next couple of weeks. Whenever it happens it will be very very hard to walk away from these girls. I have really enjoyed these last few years. It has been really special, it is a special group. When you get such a commitment from the girls, it is very rewarding.”
“When you are winning it makes it a lot easier as well.”
